Am I registered to vote?

Where do I register to vote?

You can register to vote online by clicking here. You can also register to vote in person at the Township Clerk’s office, County Clerk’s office or at the Secretary of State.  If you are registering less than 15 days before an election, you must register to vote in person at the Clerk’s office: 12653 E. Grand Lake Rd., Presque Isle, MI 49777.

How do I vote by mail?

Any registered voter may vote by mail but first, you must submit an application.  You can apply online by clicking here.  You can also download an application here.  You can also pick up an application at the Township Clerk’s office.  Once you’ve completed your application, you can submit it in person at the Township Clerk’s office or place it in the drop box in front of the Township Hall.  You can also mail it to: Cynthia Paavola, Presque Isle Township Clerk, 12653 E. Grand Lake Rd., Presque Isle, MI 49777.  If you wish to become a permanent absentee voter, you must apply to vote by absentee ballot in one of two ways:  (1) when you get a new driver’s license, you can tell the Secretary of State office that you wish to be a permanent AV voter or (2) you can come to the Clerk’s office during business hours, Monday-Thursday, 9am-2pm.  If you are a new resident, you must bring proof of residency.  Absentee ballots are available 45 days before every election.  You can request to have a ballot mailed to you by the Friday before the election at 5pm.  You can also request a ballot in person at the Clerk’s office until 4pm on the Monday before the election.  All absentee ballots must be received by the Township Clerk no later than 8pm on Election Day.  Please note that the post office will NOT forward your ballot.
