Reel Fun Ice Fishing Tournament (February):
The Reel Fun Ice Fishing Tournament is held on Grand Lake. All proceeds go to help fund the Thunder Bay River Center Project. The Center is pictured as a 20,000 sq. ft. interpretive center of the Thunder Bay River Watershed.  Located within the unique 444 acre Alpena Wildlife Sanctuary, Thunder Bay River Center will serve as the thermometer of the watershed’s health. It will operate year-round as an interpretive resource for all. The Thunder Bay River Center will be a watershed and aquatics studies center focused on the 1,250 square miles of the Thunder Bay River Watershed’s resources. Its programs will interpret these natural resources for schools, the local community and tourists to show how the protection/destruction of resources impact the water and coastline of Lake Huron.

Grand Lake Pancake Breakfast (Saturday before Memorial Day Weekend):
This family friendly event is held as one of the highly anticipated kick-off-to-summer events in Presque Isle. It is held annually at the historic Presque Isle Lodge. The event is open to the public.

Light Up the Sky 5k Run/Walk (Memorial Day Weekend):
The 5k Run/Walk is always held the last Sunday in May.  The event is held as a fundraiser for the Presque Isle Harbor Fireworks.  Come help raise money for the fireworks.  For more information, contact runpresqueisle@gmail.com

Pie and Game Night (Held in June – TBD):
This fun filled evening of cards, games…and PIE is held annually at the Presque Isle Lodge. Sure to be a good time had by all!

Presque Isle Harbor Wooden Boat Show (Third Saturday in June)
The Wooden Boat Show is held the third Saturday in June at the Presque Isle Harbor. Events kick off Friday with a participant luncheon, boat cruise, and reception, and continue into Saturday with the official launch and opening ceremony. Food vendors, arts and crafts, and model boat displays are also part of the event.

Independence Day Picnic,  Parade, and Fireworks (Saturday closest to the 4th of July)
The annual Independence Day celebration kicks off with a picnic at the New Lighthouse grounds and concludes with fireworks at the Harbor at dusk.  Come spend the day in Presque Isle where you can enjoy biking, swimming, climbing the lighthouses, playing at the parks, delicious food, and a spectacular fireworks show!

Thunder Bay Maritime Festival (4th of July):
Bring the whole family to this free annual community event hosted by the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Since 2001 the sanctuary has encouraged thousands of visitors to delve deeper into the maritime world at this celebration of all things nautical. Tour tall ships, research vessels, and fishing boats docked along the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Trail.  Enjoy live music on the main stage, kids games and crafts, see the small boat workshop, taste some local whitefish, explore the shipwreck century exhibits and more!

Ice Cream Social (Second Saturday in July)
It’s ice cream….need I say more! This family fun event is held the second Saturday in July at the Homestead Park.

Grand Lake Fishing Derby (Second weekend in July)
One of the Grand Lake Sportsman’s Club’s annual fishing derbies. Headquarters are located at the north end of Grand Lake at the pavilion. Cash and prizes are awarded for various categories.

Nautical Festival (end of July):
The Nautical Festival is held annually in Rogers City the last weekend in July through the first week of August. The Queen’s Pageant is held on Friday evening, and the festival events begin with the kick off dinner on Tuesday evening. Events and festivities continue throughout the week and conclude on Sunday with fireworks at dusk.

Garage Sale Days (Last weekend in July):
Something for everyone!  From old treasurers to new deals, residents team up and work together to make it easy for you to spend the day browsing.  Maps of participating locations are available, and signage is plentiful. Come spend the day cruising through Presque Isle, and you’re sure to find something you’ve been looking for.

Youth Sailing Classes
Grand Lake Sailing promotes sailing for persons in the Grand Lake Michigan area of Presque Isle County. We currently offer a week of youth sailing lessons in the summer on Grand Lake. We base our operation at the Grand Lake Beach House of Presque Isle Harbor Association.

Sailing Regatta (First Saturday in August on Grand Lake):
Whether you own a sailboat or just enjoy watching from ashore, this annual event is certainly an enjoyable time for all!

Arts & Crafts Show (Second Saturday in August):
The annual Arts and Crafts show is typically held the second Saturday in August at the New Lighthouse Park grounds. Vendors from all over the State come to display and share their talents. There is a wide variety of crafts to view as well as kettle corn, food vendors, and entertainment. The lighthouse gift shop and tower are also open for the day.

Labor Day Picnic (Saturday closest to Labor Day):
The annual Labor Day Picnic is sponsored by the Presque Isle Township Parks and Recreation Committee and is held the Saturday preceding Labor Day.  The Gift Shops and towers are also open for the day. The event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Alpena County Fair (end of August):
The Alpena County Fair is in it’s 137th year (in 2011). There is a Queen’s Pageant, animal shows, horse pulls, live concerts and entertainment, amusement rides and games, karaoke contests, a bump ‘n run, auctions….and more!

Presque Isle County Fair (Labor Day weekend):
The Presque Isle County Fair was started by the Presque Isle County Agricultural Mechanical Society and was first held on September 25 and 26, 1901 in Millersburg. Sometime around 1932 the fair moved to Onaway. After a stop at Posen as a 4-H fair and the Moltke Township Hall where it was held for about eight years, the year 2000 saw plans made to move the fair back to Millersburg. The first fair back at its original location was held in 2001. The fair date was recently changed from the end of June to the Labor Day weekend. Posen Potato Festival (weekend after Labor Day):
The Potato Festival is held annually in the village of Posen the weekend after Labor Day. Events kick off Friday evening and run through Sunday night.  There is live entertainment at the Country Western Pavilion and Polka Pavilion, Arts & Crafts, vendors, a bump ‘n run, a grand parade, potato pancake dinner (any many more tributes to the potato and polish heritage), a polish polka mass, and much, much more! Autumn Lights and Chili Cookoff Festival (2nd weekend of October):
The Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival is held during the second weekend of October. The four day event provides activities for the young and old including lighthouse tours (aerial, boat or personal vehicle), entertainment, and vendors.  The festival boasts over 100 maritime related vendors including lighthouse preservation groups, artists, authors and more. Although the main site of activities occur at Alpena’s APLEX Event Center, 701 Woodward Avenue, Alpena, MI., many additional activities are held throughout the community.  From Saginaw to Mackinaw, lighthouses will be open for tours and visits!
