Free Ice Fishing Derby –  February 11, 2023 is the 40th Annual Fishing Derby at the north end of Grand Lake by Woody’s – 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Over $3,000 in prizes.  A fishing license is necessary if participant is over 17 years old.   Call Jeff Duly at 989.884.1859 for more information.

Grand Lake Pancake Breakfast (Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend –  8:00 a – 10:30sa @ Presque Isle Lodge)
This family friendly event is held as one of the highly anticipated kick-off-to-summer events in Presque Isle. It is held annually at the historic Presque Isle Lodge. The event is open to the public.  Enjoy the blueberry and regular pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee and milk and we will be ready to serve at the Presque Isle Lodge. Come on back again to enjoy a fabulous breakfast and the beginning of another great season. Breakfast charge is $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for children.

Grand Lake Hydroplane Racing Returns to Grand Lake!  June 3rd and 4th, 2023  from (6/3) 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and (6/4)  10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, (6/5).  Awards will be presented at the end of each day.  This year’s race will utilize a long marathon track around Grand Island.  Don’t miss this great event!

Presque Isle Harbor Wooden Boat Show  – June 16th and 17th, 2023
The Wooden Boat Show is held the third Saturday in June at the Presque Isle Harbor. Events kick off Friday with a participant luncheon, boat cruise, and reception, and continue into Saturday with the official launch and opening ceremony. Food vendors, arts and crafts, and model boat displays are also part of the event.

Pie and Game Night  PIE & GAME NIGHT – Date and time to be determined. It begins with cards or games you bring along to play with your friends or family. Bring a pie or treat to share. Held at the Presque Isle Lodge. This fun filled evening of cards, games…and PIE is held annually at the Presque Isle Lodge. July 3, 2022 Independence Day  Parade, Mole Music Story Book Walk, Picnic  and Fireworks    Yes Fireworks at dusk too!!!!  Saturday July 2, 2023.
The annual Independence Day celebration kicks off with a parade at the New Lighthouse grounds.  The parade will line up at 10:15 a.m. and starts at 10:30 a.m. with live music to keep you entertained until noon.   Bring the entire family for The Mole Music Story Book Walk on the New Lighthouse grounds and trail.   The day concludes with fireworks at the Harbor at dusk.  Come spend the day in Presque Isle where you can enjoy biking, swimming, climbing the lighthouses, playing at the parks, and a spectacular fireworks show!  Please click here for more information! 

July 3, 2022 Independence Day  Picnic.

Grand Lake Sailing Regattas – Date and time to be determined.  Sailboat types gather at the south end of Grand Island at 1:30 p.m.  Click here for further information at Grand Lake Association’s website. 

Thunder Bay Maritime Festival (4th of July):
Bring the whole family to this free annual community event hosted by the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Since 2001 the sanctuary has encouraged thousands of visitors to delve deeper into the maritime world at this celebration of all things nautical. Tour tall ships, research vessels, and fishing boats docked along the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Trail.  Enjoy live music on the main stage, kids games and crafts, see the small boat workshop, taste some local whitefish, explore the shipwreck century exhibits and more!

Concerts at the New Lighthouse – Dates to be determined.  Concerts at the New Lighthouse are happening every WEDNESDAY in July.   Join the fun, seeing neighbors and visitors alike at this great event.  Bring your own chair and cooler. Click here for more information!

Grand Lake Fishing Derby    Grand Lake Association sponsored.  Dates to be determined.
One of the Grand Lake Sportsman’s Club’s annual fishing derbies. Headquarters are located at the north end of Grand Lake at the pavilion. Cash and prizes are awarded for various categories.  Join the fun!!!  Please click on for all events sponsored by Grand Lake Association.

Nautical Festival at Rogers City – August  4 – 7,  2023.
The Nautical Festival is held annually in Rogers City the . The Queen’s Pageant is held on Friday evening, and the festival events begin with the kick off dinner on Tuesday evening. Events and festivities continue throughout the week and conclude on Sunday with fireworks at dusk.

Garage Sale Days JULY 29 & 30, 2022 – 10:00 – 4:00 The GLA has been hosting this event for 30 years. This is typically held on the last Friday and Saturday of July. When you register, your address is included on the map.  Click here for more information.

Youth Sailing Classes
Grand Lake Sailing promotes sailing for persons in the Grand Lake Michigan area of Presque Isle County. We currently offer a week of youth sailing lessons in the summer on Grand Lake. We base our operation at the Grand Lake Beach House of Presque Isle Harbor Association.

JULY 2 AND AUGUST 6 Sailing Regatta GRAND LAKE SAILING REGATTAS  – Sailboats of all types gather at the south end of Grand Island at 1:30. There will be two buoys set up to mark the starting line. Boats will hear a 5-minute gun and a starting gun and should begin the race at the starting gun by crossing the starting line between the two buoys. Race counterclockwise around Grand Island, 1 lap, with the finish line being marked by two buoys at the south end of the channel between Grand Island and the mainland.

AUGUST 13, 2023 LAFARGE/STONEPORT 5K QUARRY RUN/WALK  AT 9:30 A.M.   We are pleased to announce the 7th Annual Stoneport 5K run/walk on August 14, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.  This event takes place at the Lafarge Presque Isle Quarry and provides participants with breathtaking views, as the race route takes you down more than one-hundred feet to the quarry floor.  Whether you choose to make the event a leisurely family stroll or push the limits, it is sure to be a fun-filled experience.  This year’s event will be different, as we will be having a hybrid race where runners can run at Lafarge or at their own location and submit their times.  Separate awards will be given for competitors competing on site versus hybrid runners.  All funds raised by this event are being donated to the Mid-Michigan Hospital Foundation Alpena Cancer Center.  Click on the highlighted  LAFARGE 5K Quarry Run/Walk Entry Form for your entry form!  LAFARGE 5K QUARRY RUN/WALK ENTRY FORM

 Arts & Crafts Show  Date and time to be determined.  8025 E. Grand Lake Road, Presque Isle Township.   The annual Arts and Crafts show is typically held the second Saturday in August at the New Lighthouse Park grounds. Vendors from all over the State come to display and share their talents. There is a wide variety of crafts to view as well as kettle corn, food vendors, and entertainment. The lighthouse gift shop and tower are also open for the day.

Alpena County Fair (end of August):
The Alpena County Fair is in it’s 137th year (in 2011). There is a Queen’s Pageant, animal shows, horse pulls, live concerts and entertainment, amusement rides and games, karaoke contests, a bump ‘n run, auctions….and more!

POKER RUN ON GRAND LAKE – Date and time to be determined.  Sponsored by the Grand Lake Association.
W-E-E-E-‘R-E B-A-A-A-C-K! And jokers are still wild! Food, refreshments, and
prizes. We want you to rev those boats, put on your poker face and….. Come out for a rip roarin’, face bluffin’ time. Pre-registration begins June 1 st . Please call Russ Kauffman at 989 595 6056. There is a limit of 23 boats and cost is $15.00 per person in attendance. Maps to the 7 docks will be available at P.I.H.A. between 2pm-4pm, 8/21. Seven docks will host a card for you to pick up between 5pm and 7pm. Remember, the last time we had a floating dock in the middle of the lake. Park your boat, start your car and gather your cards to party at the PIHA Clubhouse @ 7:30pm.  Food, refreshments, and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd high poker hands. Questions, please call

SEPTEMBER 3, 2023 – Labor Day Picnic at Presque Isle Township’s New Lighthouse Park 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Come one, come all and enjoy the smoked chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob and more!!!

Presque Isle County Fair (Labor Day weekend):
The Presque Isle County Fair was started by the Presque Isle County Agricultural Mechanical Society and was first held on September 25 and 26, 1901 in Millersburg. Sometime around 1932 the fair moved to Onaway. After a stop at Posen as a 4-H fair and the Moltke Township Hall where it was held for about eight years, the year 2000 saw plans made to move the fair back to Millersburg. The first fair back at its original location was held in 2001. The fair date was recently changed from the end of June to the Labor Day weekend. Posen Potato Festival (weekend after Labor Day):
The Potato Festival is held annually in the village of Posen the weekend after Labor Day. Events kick off Friday evening and run through Sunday night.  There is live entertainment at the Country Western Pavilion and Polka Pavilion, Arts & Crafts, vendors, a bump ‘n run, a grand parade, potato pancake dinner (any many more tributes to the potato and polish heritage), a polish polka mass, and much, much more! Pumpkin Stroll – Date to be determined.  7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.   Meet at the Presque Isle Marina to the Old (Haunted) Lighthouse at 7:30 p.m. and walk through the woods for 1/4 mile to the Old Lighthouse.  Jill VanAssche at 6253 East Grand Lake Road.  No open flames in pumpkins!  Must be battery-operated candle or glow stick.  

December, 2023:  Decorations at Garrity Hall and the special lights showcasing the new lighthouse are ready at the Presque Isle Township New Lighthouse Park.  Come visit the serene beauty of the season!
